The sponsors are Wes and Angel Mason. They have three children and attend Crossroads Baptist Church. They homeschool their children. Garrett and Mayra Bremer also attend Crossroads Baptist Church. They have six children and they also homeschool. We wanted our children to learn to dance in a safe Christian setting and we have accomplished this purpose. We also have other dances and dance classes throughout the year, but they are more casual in nature and everyone brings snacks and drinks. If you want to be on our mailing list to be notified about these events, please email Jessica Bremer at jthr@thebremers.com. About the Dance This is our third contra dance. Some come with a date. Most don't. You start dancing with a partner and as the song progresses your partner changes. Everyone dances, even children as young as 2 or 3 years old. This dance is perfect for those who are a little shy and are not experienced dancers. For those who enjoy ballroom dancing, we play this kind of music when the caller takes a break. This dance has been a great success, especially among homeschooling families. So, if you have come to the first two dances, please invite your friends!!! This is a Contra, English Country, and Scottish Country style dance where a dance caller tells the dancers what to do for each step. All of the dancers will learn together and participate together. It is mostly done in a group similar to square dancing. Below are some links to youtube videos to give you some ideas. Some of this is Victorian and Black tie dress. This is not the dress code at this dance, but the videos will give you an idea of the type of dancing. Again, you will be told exactly how to do the steps, no experience is required and two left feet are acceptable. We serve hors d'oeuvres at this dance. You just have to come and enjoy!! Angel Mason Dress Code Men: Slacks and dress shirt to a suit and tie. Women: Dress, or blouse and skirt. (Most of the girls and women wear formal dresses) Please keep modesty in mind. Please no cocktail dresses. Victorian Dress is acceptable.
